In this post we look at the value of play interventions in schools. The post provides an overview of the outcomes of some playtime/recess intervention projects, followed by a fuller discussion of the findings from Ben’s research into one particular project on the Isle of Man.

Much of the following report explores the benefits of loose parts interventions at school recess/playtime facilitated by a playwork approach. Playwork can be understood as an approach that resists adult control and direction, instead seeking to work in such a way that children themselves determine and control the content and intent of their play. For playworkers, playing is seen as a beneficial outcome in and of itself. Playworkers also recognise that playing brings about other benefits and contributes to other outcomes . Playworkers try to create environments that are fit for play, they practice various forms of intervention that serve in different ways to protect, maintain or extend children’s play. Fine Arts

The Arts are a vital way for scholars to express themselves, develop new talents, and explore their own creativity.

In Visual Arts, scholars gain the tools they need to navigate the visual world while becoming careful observers and problem solvers. Through the use of various materials and mediums - including clay, collage, digital art/photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, and textiles - scholars gain technical skills and confidence in their ability to express themselves visually.

In Performing Arts, scholars focus on public speaking, music, dance, or theater and explore a variety of genres, styles, influences, and artists. Scholars develop their creative skills and showcase their work from performing arts classes at performances open to the entire school community.

Picnics, Excursions & Educational Tours:

At, Presidium, we believe that trips and excursions are a perfect way to expand one’s horizons. This is why we organise regular excursions for students to promote learning through outdoor interactions, and experiences. In addition such trips also instil a sense of appreciation for the wonders of the earth and exposes one to a wide variety of cultural and geographical ecosystems.

Another important objective of planning trips is to provide an opportunity to teachers as well as students to bond with each other, giving both the parties a break from their hectic schedules.
